If you're driving home from a Packer game late one Sunday afternoon and you get and invite to go a baseball game that only happens once every few years, do it. A tie breaker game, or game 163, as it is called in the baseball world is a rare thing. I was lucky enough to be able to experience it when the Brewers played the Cubs (and won btw) to start their wild ride into the postseason.
Game 163 was held at the one and only Wrigley Field. To Cubs fans and small amount of others it is a haven for the their beloved team. To pretty much everyone else it is a dump, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. As one of the oldest stadiums in the MLB it has has every right to have some wear and tear. I won't go into detail about my renovation plans for Wrigley but my sketches were good and the Cubs organization should give me a call when they are ready to do that facelift.
I don't mean to sound like a total Cubs hater (as a Brewer fan aren't I obligated to be a hater though) but in the one game I graced Wrigley with my presence I encountered some of the rudest fans EVER. Peanuts were thrown, beer was spilled, beer cans were chucked, and hot dogs were used as slapping devices, yes hot dogs. Flying beers aside I thought I would share my top three perks of going to a game at Wrigley.
Top Three Perks Of Going to a game at Wrigley:
1. Wrigley Field is a short train ride away from Michigan Avenue. Did somebody say shopping?
2. Wrigleyville is a pretty cool place to grab a bite to eat at. Sports bar galore.
3. They serve cheap beer. So if you're going to surround yourself with Cubs fans at least you can drink your trouble aways.
I have met some extremely nice Cubs fans (I am even friends with some) but Game 163 didn't bring me any new nice fans to add to my list. I will cut them some slack though I mean the Brewers did get the W that day!
Scoreboard (Out of 10)
Overall Wrigley Field score: 3
Game Experience score: 11
